The Structural Lifter Benefit

I’ve been sounding the alarm for years on the dangers of not using a structural lifter. This weekend a video of a lift failure came to my attention. This lift failed due balance issues. The Center of Gravity is critical in a lift. This one appears to have been unseen. As the lift goes on, the COG is fighting to find it’s place in line with the hook which only exacerbates this problem.

A structural lifter would change this dynamic and keep the COG within the supports of the rigging. It would effectively make it impossible for the load to fall out.

At the end of the day, when we see something not right, we have to fix it. Accidents happen. The question comes in learning from it. In this case, the accident is unacceptable. But can you learn from it? If the answer is yes, then let’s get on with it. You need structural lifters. It’s not optional. What’s a bonus is it will make you more productive.
