Bale Arm Safety
Self Dumping Bins improve safety over most trash bins you’ll find on the market. Not getting into a dumpster to release latches prevents climbing the dumpsters. You don’t have the exposure to the sharps and potential crushes in the dumpster when you use them because there is no reason to get in there. These types of “boat skips” for trash are the safest way to get rid of trash. But there is one issue. Bale Arm placement.
The large arm of a self dumping bin is called a “Bale Arm”. Most manufacturers put up a safety latch so that when it’s sitting, you can’t knock it over and hit someone. They could do damage. Most of the manufacturers put on a light duty round stock pin that’s garbage. Assured failure with the abuse field staff will bring to the table. We ask that you lay down the arm of ours to ensure safety. The problem with the safety latches is that people start to use them during operations. This defeats the entire purpose of a boat skip and not needing to get into the dumpster. I’ve been selling them for 12 years and telling people to not use them to zero avail. We still have people getting in dumpsters because people just assume that you have to use them. But we have the solution.
Our 1045 FA Self Dumping bins have a latching system that adjusts automatically to dump the bin, then release the bale arm on the second activation. We have made it so that there is no reason to get into the dumpster. We have went from trying to tell the industry that the safety latch isn’t for flying the bins to simply engineering the need for it out. The Bale Arm lays down when not in use. We have no safety latch to confuse the users. No latch to inadvertently prevent the bin from being used as intended.
We have one more adjustment in process as of today for the bins so they work great for North America. I suspect that next month we’ll be ready to show why the Eichinger 1045 is the best trash bin for cranes in the world.
